Katarakt

Fick ett mail med följande info och en förfrågan om jag kunde lägga ut detta på forumet:

If you go to the OptiGen logo on the bottom of the GPCA home page, and click on the OptiGen logo, there is given the required forms for cooperation on the study. We have plenty of old clear dogs, but need many more samples of dogs that HAVE CATARACTS. http://www.german-pinscher.com/optigenstudy.htm

If people there could cooperate, maybe meet at a vet to collect samples, and mail at the same time, the cost for shipping would be less. I would personally or even the HC would assist in the mailing costs if people could do this. There is currently 15 samples, but the more affected samples there are, the better the chance of them finding a genetic marker for cataracts. This would be wonderful to be able to test for carriers of cataracts, or even know that you dog will get cataracts long before they develop. It will not happen overnight, and with such few samples, it will be more difficult to obtain results.

Man har alltså startat en insamling av blodprov på pinschrar med katarakt för att sedan inleda en forskning kring detta.
